Do you ship?
Yes, please see our online shop shipping page, for our soups and broths available for shipping within California, as well as Washington, Oregon, Idaho, Nevada, and Arizona.
How does the soup stay frozen when it's shipped?
We use two-day shipping and the soups/broths are wrapped in insulated foil with cold packs and dry ice. The soups/broths may be slushy when they arrive but can be refrozen upon delivery for up to six months.
How are the soups and broths packaged?
The frozen soups and broths are packaged chilled (never hot or even warm) in BPA-free pouches. At some locations, our Bone Broth is available refrigerated in glass jars. Please see our Markets page for a complete list of locations.
How long do frozen soups last?
Mama Tong soups and broths are made weekly in small batches. If purchased frozen, we recommend consuming within six months. Once defrosted, use within one week. For our refrigerated Bone Broth purchased in glass jars, we recommend using within two weeks.
How do I heat up my frozen soup/broth?
For best results, leave frozen until you are ready to eat. Then, tear or cut the packaging off the frozen soup/broth and place the frozen block in a saucepan on low to avoid scalding.
Are your soups and broths only for new mamas?
No, not at all! Some of the soups are traditionally given to women recovering from childbirth, but all of the soups and broths are wonderful for anyone looking for a delicious, nourishing meal.
Are your ingredients certified organic?
We are committed to using all certified organic ingredients, and there are a few exceptions. I use Michiu Rice Wine in the Herbal Chicken Soup and in the Ginger Chicken Bone Broth. The herbs in the Herbal Chicken Soup and in the Mushroom Stew come from Springwind Herb Co. and Mayway; both are high quality Chinese Herb Distributors that test for herbicides and pesticides.
What kind of meat do you use?
We use certified organic chicken for the Chicken Curry, the Herbal Chicken Soup and the Ginger Chicken Bone Broth. We use bones from organic, pasture-raised animals to make the Turkey, Lamb, Pork and Beef Bone Broths.
What kind of water filtration do you use?
Friends of Water, and highly recommend it!
